Season 2's Characters
For season 2, we were treated to a new group of characters. Most were not mentioned in the previous season or any seasons after. But they all helped to give us more of an insight to the daily goings on of the lodge.
Helmut Wintergarten (B. J. Woodbury)
Helmut is the only other guy anywhere near the size of Moose Thompson and feared in the lodge because of it. He is the Head of Lodge Maintenance and can normally be found in the living room or basement of the lodge fixing his beloved water pump. He enjoys talking about his mother and thinks very highly of her. Enjoys partying greatly (shown in Noel’s stag) and advocates the Lodge tradition of partying.
- During Season 2's “Lodge Security” episode, Helmut is made Head of Lodge Security via an emergency clause that allows Douglas to take control of the lodge. He later relinquishes the role back to Noel as he didn’t like “being the heavy”.

Doc Render (Neil Crone)
Doc Render is the lodge doctor and rivals Hap Shaughnassy as the biggest local liar. Doc loves to tell tall tales and usually gets caught in the middle of his whoppers exaggerating the claims. In addition he is also known for his constant schemes and regular requests to borrow money from people. No one is really sure if he is a real doctor or not, but never ask as they would have no idea if he was telling the truth.
- Attends to Murray during “Lodge Security” after his is shot by Noel.
- Pulls off a lottery scam in “The Fish Locator”
Eddie Johnson (Bill Carr)
Eddie is the lodge cook who aspires to be on Broadway and in show business some day. He is dramatic and wears his heart on his sleeve which tends to annoy other members. His only friend was a raccoon which wandered into the lodge as it was the only thing that ate his cooking without complaining.
- In season 2's “RV Trip”Eddie mentioned his intent on being a part of the trip to Florida in Glen’s RV was to meet Stephen Spielberg and impress him with an audition for a movie role at Universal Studios.
- In “Karaoke Machine” Eddie was zapped while singing show tunes by Murray’s homemade karaoke machine which Eddie purchased with the Lodges’ entertainment fund. Dwayne also got zapped, leading to a fight at the meeting where the polarity reversed returning them to normal.
Douglas Hendrychuck (David Hubbard)
Douglas is the tight pocketed lodge treasurer. He is hard nosed, anal, straight and to the point. Despite this, he is also small, which has been proven to be a hazardous combination at times at the lodge (beaten up by Helmut for critizing his mom in season 2).
- Proudly owns a Gremlin and is occasionally seen washing and waxing it at the lodge. Red refers to it several times as a Nash.
Murray Woolworth (Ed Sahely)
Murray is the sneaky and deceiving owner of Murray’s Variety in the town of Possum Lake. He is a major source of goods to the lodge as noted in season 2's “The Food Club” and “The Fish Locator”. Is known for the credo of “No refunds, no returns, thats our policy” as well as the saying “Pretty to look at, pretty to hold, but if you break it, it’s sold”. Is usually always seen with his assistant Dwayne either in the lodge or at his store. Despite being cold hearted and constantly scheming, he seems to have a nice streak in how he continues to employ Dwayne despite his incompetence or ability to blow up Murray’s schemes.
- Ends up being shot by Noel on opening day of hunting season where he swears revenge on Noel. Later in the episode participates in a fire extinguisher duel.
Dwayne Dortmund (Nick Johne)
Dwayne is the loyal simpleton assitant at Murray’s Variety. He is often seen cracking out useless or irregular comments and generally annoying Murray. He is the polar opposite of Murray as he is honest and tends to out Murray’s schemes by accident.
- Ends up singing The Cremation of Sam McGee after being zapped by Eddies kareoke machine (interestingly enough that he and Murray sold)
Noel Christmas (Kevin Frank)
Noel is the Head of Security at the lodge. He is seen as the goofy, high octane, hyperactive personnality who loves to point out faults in the other members. He always wears his security outfit which resembles a police officers’ and is said to have been issued a badge in “Lodge Security”. Noel is the stereotypical policeman wannabe and is also a huge Chuck Norris fan and constantly references him. He has really bad martial arts skills which he brings forward as often as possible in an attempt to show off.
- Points out Red’s physical condition several times in season two. Usually always followed by getting him to feel his biceps.
- Drives a late 1980's Jeep Cherokee which has been modified for his security needs (specialised alarm and flashing/rotating beacon lights)
- Lives just outside of town on the north end of the lake by himself.
- His house is also modified with a heavy security system including an alarm, and 2 way communication system to verify and communicate with anyone at the front door.
- Almost marries a stripper in season 2's “Noel’s Stag”. She told him he was a legal assistant and the guys hire her for his stag. Once he finds out, he calls off the wedding. Red mentions his ideal mate would be a short female correctional services officer.
