Keep tuning into the website for more updates as I hopefully will be able to roll this out soon.
Hey everyone - I wanted to tease this a bit because I am pretty excited. I have something fun in the works that I have wanted to do alongside this website for some time now. It is going to start out pretty rudimentary, but I am hoping that with the support of all RGS fans out there, it will blossom into something fun and exciting!
Keep tuning into the website for more updates as I hopefully will be able to roll this out soon.

With the 50th anniversary of the moon landing coming this weekend, here is a question courtesy of Saskatchewan’s smartest listener and John Gormley from CKOM.
https://soundcloud.com/980cjme_650ckom/gormley-saskatchewans-smartest-listener-july-17?in=980cjme_650ckom/sets/gormley They didn’t need to bring this to the moon but it is a good thing they did. What was it? Well it’s none other than Duct Tape! Going back to the Gemini days – the very first manned spacecraft – each NASA launch always had a roll of duct tape available for the crew. The crew did use the duct tape as part of the lunar landing module. Part of the command module had been disabled and the crew was able to jerry-rig it using duct tape which enabled the lunar module to land on the surface of the moon. It is also credited with saving the lives of the astronauts on Apollo 13 as well. So when your celebrating the 50th anniversary of the moon landing this weekend, think of duct tape and stump your friends! Here is a Canada Day thought that I posted onto the Red Green Fans Facebook Group this week:
With the passing of Canada Day, it got me to thinking - Red Green is completely wrapped up within the fabric of Canadiana. But yet, its odd that they never produced a Canada Day special. Sure when you think about it, very few shows do a special dedicated to Canada Day or Independence day (if your American) - but that would have been the sort of thing that would have completely fit with the quirkiness of the show. So keep that in mind while you watch a marathon of the Red Green show this week to help celebrate all that is good about Canada! https://www.facebook.com/Red-green-fans-170151103009304/?ref=bookmarks This will be a short post, but I wanted to let everyone know that I am still here and still doing digging into the history of the show and and to expand on some of the other features I have offered and am very proud about on this website. My hope is to eventually put together some sort of podcast series or the like since there isn't really anything Red Green related out there in the podcast world. If that is something that interests you, please let me know in the comments!
In the meantime I have been reached out to by a few people who are looking for RGS merchandise as well as to share experiences. I love that!!! I am hoping some of this either helps a RGS fan get the gear they want, helps to expand some of the content and information on the site and/or helps to provide something new for 2019. We shall see over the coming months! Int he meantime, keep cruising the site and coming back for updates. And have a look at Red's upcoming 2019 tour and get tickets if you can. Chances are this could be one of the last tours he is going to do, so if your on the fence, or haven't been to one, take the plunge and go for it. Until next time, keep your stick on the ice! Well folks, it is vacation time here at the site and I will be following Red's footsteps in checking out a few fun places within the US of A.
As such, there will be no new updates planned for a few weeks until I am settled back in from my trip. So feel free to post, chat, comment and browse! If you have any info, questions or comments, as always email me and I will get to them when I return. Have a fun Labour Day and I will see you in September! Hi Everyone
School is almost done for me and with it, the end of my not being around much! I do have some good news, albeit not RGS related news. I finally made it onto The Impulsive Buy's website! In the last week, we received Pepsi Throwback and 7UP Tropical Twist on shelves here in Canada and I was able to get the update in before anyone else. https://www.theimpulsivebuy.com/wordpress/2018/07/27/spotted-on-shelves-in-canada-7up-tropical-twist/comment-page-1/#comment-138554 Since I missed 2017, I also want to say I am looking at doing a few more updates to the site to make it regular and more interactive. Hopefully once I get more free time, this is something that we can work on. Ideally I would like to run a contest as well for some RGS gear, however we will see where that goes. If you have any ideas on a contest, feel free to post them! Anyway with that it is back to studying and I will hopefully see you back in a few days after the exam is over. So I am doing my best to stick with regular updates and so far so good. We are sitting a few days before Canada Day and around the Lodge Meeting for the month of July. So get on the RGS website and to the newest lodge meeting for the newest scoop on Reds activities.
In other news, we've been given a shout out!!! Big thanks to Lee and Linz over at Pop Rewind for taking my email question and giving the website a shout out. Pop Rewind has become a must listen to show and definitely is full of relatable and interesting content. The Game Boy episode specifically (which was about my question on mods) was a great listen! Check them out if your a fan of 80/90's pop culture and of podcasting as I expect you'll enjoy yourself. Pop Rewind Anyway I am out of here to go get a head start on the BBQ and toss some ice cubes into my shorts (looks like the heat wave has finally started!) Thanks Lee and Linz and have a great Canada Day and Independence Day everyone. Wow has it really been a year and a half since I last posted on the site?????
Sadly it has been the case! But that's OK! Lot;s of RGS relevant things have been happening like with the continuation of Red's one man show in 2017 and his year off in 2018. You can now find the show on twitch.tv (I highly recommend checking it out) and is hosted by Red Green Jr (https://twitter.com/redgreenjrtv?lang=en) which as you can see has a very active Twitter page. Definitely a lot happening! I also wanted to send a shout out to the folks at The Red Green Show Wiki page for their prominent mention of using my site to help with their own research. It is always flattering to have your hard work be referenced and recognized by other fans of the show. (Gents, if your reading, feel free to PM me to chat sometime!) As for myself, it has been an intense year and a half of working full time along with finishing my university studies (should be done in a month!). After which a nice break and back at regular updates on the website! So keep checking back. Interestingly enough I am looking at other ways of growing the website. Obviously the show won't be coming out with new episodes or anything which means that we won't be seeing much more in "new" content around here (doesn't mean we won't be seeing "new old stock" though!). In my general absence I have discovered the Purple Stuff Podcast which is more of a 80/90's pop culture talk show. So in my thoughts on growing the site now that I am having more free time to do it, I admittedly have been considering running a similar podcast to discuss RGS and it's related pop culture. Something I am thinking about - not 100% happening - and something I would be taking suggestions about as well. So if you have any ideas, please toss them my way. Other than that, thinking of how we can have a virtual lodge meeting on here, weekly screenings of episodes with commentary for everyone or just plain topics with your discussion invited. Honestly, I am eager to get back to the site and excited to try something new on here. So keep checking in, keep throwing up your ideas on here in the comments and we will make this site a lot more fun! Until next time friends, keep your stick on the ice! Another brief update for you - I have uncovered some more tidbits to help confirm the location of the show in a Season 13 episode. Check out the "Locations of the Show" link for more!
So in more recent news, I was able to catch Red at his recent one man show "I'm not Old I'm Ripe" when the show hit the Casino Rama location. This was also the location where the show was taped for a special on the Comedy Network which we were told would air in Late December/early January 2017 (My money is on New Years Day like the last tour).
I have to say that this fan found it to be a fantastic show as expected and certainly worth the price of admission! I even was able to note some interesting facts which will help me to update the website - look for those soon!!! Additionally, I noticed on the Toronto Mike blog that he was looking back at a year ago today where he interviewed RGS alumni Jeff Lumby and discussed his role on RGS as well as other radio work. Here is a link to his interview and I highly encourage everyone to have a look! |
AuthorBeen watching since Season 1 (I was 5) and was able to catch the last 10 minutes of the show before switching to The Pink Panther before lunch. The show is not a passion or obsession for me, but rather a really weird and interesting hobby. Nothing is more fun than getting that rare RGS collectible that no one else has or finding out a new tidbit of information that's never been shared anywhere. As I get older, I may be more opinionated and tech savvy, but always enjoy catching the Red Green Show for a laugh and the nostalgia. Archives
