They didn’t need to bring this to the moon but it is a good thing they did. What was it?
Well it’s none other than Duct Tape!
Going back to the Gemini days – the very first manned spacecraft – each NASA launch always had a roll of duct tape available for the crew.
The crew did use the duct tape as part of the lunar landing module. Part of the command module had been disabled and the crew was able to jerry-rig it using duct tape which enabled the lunar module to land on the surface of the moon. It is also credited with saving the lives of the astronauts on Apollo 13 as well.
So when your celebrating the 50th anniversary of the moon landing this weekend, think of duct tape and stump your friends!
